About Carrollton Music
Carrollton Music Conservatory was founded by David Dang in April, 2000. It is privately located
in David's home studio in Carrollton, Texas near the intersection of Old Denton and
Frankford Road. The students
include homeschooled and public/private schooled children, adults, and special needs children.
Some of them have gone on to pursue music degrees at higher institutes such as the University of
North Texas in Denton, TX and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. The
studio currently accepts students for piano and voice lessons at all levels and all ages.
Philosophy and Approach
Philosophy in Music
Music is a discipline created by God to nourish the mind and feed the soul. Music is also a
beautiful expression of one’s skill, artistry, creativity, logic, and personality.
Therefore, through positive teaching reinforcement, one should be able to enjoy his/her own
Equipping the Basics
A solid foundation, emphasizing note reading, ear training, theory, technique, and
musicianship, is given to all beginning piano or voice students. Depending on an
individual student’s maturity, progress, and motivation, those basics can be well
developed in 2-5 years. Transfer students are evaluated accordingly.
Embracing the Individuality
Parental involvement is strongly recommended in every step of a student’s learning
progress but especially valued during the early stages. Once the foundation has been
established, the student is empowered to specialize in a combination of these
musical styles: classical, jazz and blues, popular/contemporary, sacred,
foreign/cultural, theatrical, anime/video game, etc. Some may venture into
composing/arranging their own styles of music or learning advanced theory.
Elevating the Artistry
Students are highly encouraged to perform in the Conservatory's annual fall and
spring recitals to celebrate their musical talents and share those gifts with
