About Carrollton Music

Carrollton Music Conservatory was founded by David Dang in April, 2000. It is privately located in David's home studio in Carrollton, Texas near the intersection of Old Denton and Frankford Road. The students include homeschooled and public/private schooled children, adults, and special needs children. Some of them have gone on to pursue music degrees at higher institutes such as the University of North Texas in Denton, TX and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. The studio currently accepts students for piano and voice lessons at all levels and all ages.

Philosophy and Approach

Philosophy in Music

Music is a discipline created by God to nourish the mind and feed the soul. Music is also a beautiful expression of one’s skill, artistry, creativity, logic, and personality. Therefore, through positive teaching reinforcement, one should be able to enjoy his/her own musical creation.

Teaching Approach

  • Equipping the Basics
A solid foundation, emphasizing note reading, ear training, theory, technique, and musicianship, is given to all beginning piano or voice students. Depending on an individual student’s maturity, progress, and motivation, those basics can be well developed in 2-5 years. Transfer students are evaluated accordingly.
  • Embracing the Individuality
Parental involvement is strongly recommended in every step of a student’s learning progress but especially valued during the early stages. Once the foundation has been established, the student is empowered to specialize in a combination of these musical styles: classical, jazz and blues, popular/contemporary, sacred, foreign/cultural, theatrical, anime/video game, etc. Some may venture into composing/arranging their own styles of music or learning advanced theory.
  • Elevating the Artistry
Students are highly encouraged to perform in the Conservatory's annual fall and spring recitals to celebrate their musical talents and share those gifts with others.
